Fairview Park

Fairview Park, a part of Costa Mesa, CA, the largest park in the city, has 195 acres of open land – natural and 13 acres of landscaped areas. The total area is 208 acres. Two Nationally Registered Cultural Resource Historic Sites are located within the park’s 195-acres of open space. Five distinct habitat ecosystems are also found in the park, which is home to rare and endangered species. It acts as a regional gateway for the Santa Ana River Trail and the Orange Coast River Park. The adjacent Orange County Talbert Regional Park also offers numerous passive recreational opportunities, including picnicking, kite-flying, wildlife observation, environmental educational, and 7 miles worth of trails for walking and bicycling. A miniature railroad and model glider field are also available at the Park, which is managed by non-profit partners. The Park hosts many City-wide special events throughout each year.

Fairview Park’s 208 acres of open land includes trails, hills, and forested areas. This park is ideal for riding horses, hiking, running, biking, and walking. There are open grassy areas near the entrance to the park where you can fly your kites. The park’s center has an official model plane air strip. It often hosts flying events. Orange County Model Engineers manage the Goat Hill Junction Railroad, which is located at the eastern end the park. They offer free rides every third weekend.

Through a maze filled with tall wild flowers, a series of trails leads to the plateau. A wooden platform with benches is located at the middle of one trail. People can relax on this platform and watch small birds fly in and out from the flowers during the afternoon. Another trail leads to a riverbed that is rich in native California plants. It features large oak trees, large grasses and beautiful California landscapes. You can also run or bike all the way to the beach.

Each June, the Costa Mesa Lions Club hosts the annual Fish Fry in Fairview Park. It attracts anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 people. The event is free to attend, with fish dinners starting at $10. There are also carnival rides and prizes drawings. There are many entertainment options. To raise funds for local clubs, schools and other community organizations, the Fish Fry is offered.

Trails and the best flower viewing are available at the Canary Drive entrance. This can also be reached from the Placentia Avenue crosswalk or the pedestrian bridge linking the west and the east sides of Fairview Park.
