Halecrest is located in Costa Mesa, California. Halecrest consists mainly of midsize homes with high values. This community is well-known and continues to draw buyers from the Costa Mesa region. Two of the most prominent planned developments in Costa Mesa are the Halecrest Neighborhood and the Hall of Fame Neighborhood.
Because they are so close together in Costa Mesa, these two neighborhoods are often grouped together. But each neighborhood near Costa Mesa has its own unique character. Halecrest was one of the first planned communities in Costa Mesa in the middle of the 1950’s. These 384 homes were constructed in the postwar period, when most families didn’t know much about Orange County (or orange groves), or Costa Mesa. Similar postwar neighborhoods are found in Van Nuys and Studio City as well as Burbank.
Herman Hale, the original developer/builder, originally planned to call the neighborhood College Estates. However, he soon found out that College Park was being constructed just a mile away. These homes are built on raised foundations and have a great “cute” look. Many of them are well-maintained for their over 50 years. This is a testimony to the craftsmanship that went into these homes.
It is one of Costa Mesa’s oldest planned neighborhoods. Many long-term residents call it home. However, younger families and first-time buyers are now buying the original homes and adding their own personal touches to make it their home. Many of the homes are undergoing dramatic transformations due to the recent remodeling wave. Below are some examples of remodeled homes from the Halecrest tract, which will give you an idea about some of the amazing Costa Mesa homes.
